Why a tanning water? You know how back in the day people that wanted a funny picture of a cat had to go to a library? And a capybara in a suit? Forget about it! Now all we have to do is look at our phone. That’s what our Tanning Water feels like; it makes it so easy to have a natural fake tan, it almost feels wrong.

For people without the time to stand around in their birthday suits waiting for a fake tan to dry, this natural formula will leave even the most experienced tanning connoisseurs guessing whether you’re born with it or spend your days at a nude beach.

What’s the difference between a mousse and a water?

MooGoo made a Tanning Mousse and a Tanning Water to cater to different skin types and application preferences. Their Tanning Mousse contains Vitamin B5 and has a creamy texture. It provides extra hydration, which is perfect for people with dry skin.

MooGoo’s Tanning Water is lightweight and quick-drying, feeling just like water. Perfect for those who are short on time and don’t want to wait around in their birthday suit!

How long does this self tan take to develop?

MooGoo Natural Tanning Water contains two natural tanning ingredients, DHA and Erythrulose, which can be washed off after 2 hours of applying. Your colour will look its best after 24 hours, so we suggest applying the tan a day or two before special events. This will also allow you to reapply for achieving darker results.

How dark is the shade going to be?

MooGoo designed their Natural Tanning Range to give you a natural-looking tan that varies from person to person. Results will depend on your natural skin colour and undertones. This tan gives you a sun-kissed glow that makes people think you’ve been relaxing by the seaside. Please note, this is not performance fake tan.

Will I look orange?

MooGoo have done their best to avoid all hints of orange in this formula! The exact shade and depth of the tan will vary from person to person though, depending on your natural skin type and colour.

What does this smell like?

If you’re like us, you’re probably tired of the coconut scent often used in tanning products to cover up the smell. MooGoo chose their signature MooGoo vanilla scent because it is a special blend of fragrant oils that are phthalate-free (the ingredients in fragrance that often cause skin reactions).

How long will this last, will it go blotchy?

Our formula has skin-hydrating ingredients like Vitamin B5 and Aloe Vera to help your skin fade evenly and naturally. To maintain the quality of your tan, exfoliate your skin 24 hours before applying the tanning solution.

After applying and rinsing off the tan, make sure to moisturise your skin regularly. The more hydrated you keep your skin, the more naturally your tan will fade! Luckily, MooGoo make plenty of moisturisers that do just that.

We also recommend applying moisturisers to rough or dry areas before applying your tan. This includes your hands, wrists, feet, ankles, elbows and knees! MooGoo’s Tanning range can be used on the face and body.

Does it stain your sheets?

From the feedback we gathered during testing, our Tanning range is not sheet-staining because of the clear formula. To be on the safe side though, wait until your tan is fully dry before wearing loose-fitting pyjamas to bed. This will help protect both your sheets and your tan.

Why is there no colour guide? How do I know where I’ve applied it?

MooGoo specifically formulated their Tanning range without a colour guide to keep things mess and stain free! Simply spray the Tanning Water evenly across your whole body, blend in and wait until skin feels dry to the touch before getting dressed.

For best results, apply your tan in sections. Start with your feet and legs, then move on to your torso and back, and finish with your arms, neck and hands. This will ensure that you evenly cover all areas of your body. If you prefer a darker tan, apply a second coat after 5-10 minutes.

Is this suitable for irritated and /or sensitive skin types?

Yes! MooGoo made this range for people with sensitive skin who usually avoid traditional tanning products due to the chemicals and potential reactions. They use no Parabens, Phenoxyethanol or other nasties and have instead included skin hydrating ingredients.

Most tanning products break me out – is this non-comedogenic?

Yep! They make their entire Tanning range without using mineral oils, which commonly cause breakouts in skincare products.

Will Sunscreen remove my fake tan?

The quick answer…yes, some types of sunscreen may. The slightly longer and more accurate answer is that there are two broad types of ways to get sun protection. The first uses a physical block like Zinc or Clear Zinc that is designed to cover the skin and reflect off rays. The other type uses UV filters, and these are designed to absorb into the top layer of skin. To do this they are formulated with penetration enhancers.

So as you can imagine, if a product is designed to absorb into the top layer of skin where your fake tan also is, and then get washed off, then some of your fake tan may also get washed away with it. So, at least on paper, a physical sunscreen probably wouldn’t wash off much fake tan. A UV filter-based sunscreen, because it has penetration enhancers, probably would.

In any case, we would say to wait about 12-24 hours after fake tanning before applying any sunscreen. And in that time please don’t lay out in the sun either!

Is this fake tan cruelty-free?
