Formulated by naturopaths and world class experts in medicinal mushrooms, Mushrooms 4 Life Lion’s Mane Matcha Latte contains therapeutic doses of Lion’s Mane mushroom. This is the most revered medicinal mushroom for cognitive support and shows potential in protecting nerve function. In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) Lion’s Mane is believed to be a powerful regulator of ‘Qi’ energy, calming the ‘Shen’ spirit and mood.
Mushrooms 4 Life’s Lion’s Mane is cultivated on specialist organic mushroom farms and grown under nature-identical conditions to ensure superior nutrient content. They use hot water extracted fruiting body. This method gives the greatest benefits of the mushroom’s bioactive compounds, including the valuable beta glucans. All their products are third-party tested to ensure purity of the mushroom strain. They also screen them for contaminants, pesticides and heavy metals, so you can be assured all of our products are manufactured to the highest quality and standards.
Why should I use Mushrooms 4 Life Lion’s Mane Matcha Latte?
Brain Health
Studies have found it stimulates production of nerve growth factor (NGF) which helps to maintain the neurons, which are the brain cells responsible for helping us to process and transmit information. It is useful for learning and memory, and helps to optimise neurogenesis; the creation and growth of new brain cells, making it an ideal nootropic for supporting focus and productivity.
Neuroprotection
A 2020 study found people with mild Alzheimer’s disease who took lion’s mane daily for 49 weeks saw significant improvements in brain health. Meanwhile, those who took a placebo experienced a decline in several markers of cognitive function.
Mental Health
Studies suggest lion’s mane can help reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression by modulating the levels of specific neurotransmitters, such as serotonin and dopamine, which play crucial roles in regulating mood, motivation, and stress response.
Active ingredients
Hericenones
Lion’s mane fruiting body is rich in hericenones which are believed to contribute to the mushroom’s cognitive-enhancing properties. They have strong anti-bacterial activity and help stimulate the generation of nerve growth factor (NGF) which is a neuropeptide that helps to maintain neurons and supports optimal brain functioning.
Beta-glucans
High amounts of polysaccharides including beta-glucans to support immunity.
Antioxidants
Rich in antioxidants and anti-inflammatory compounds.
Why mushrooms?
Fungi kingdom
Although we might assume fungi to be part of the plant kingdom, they are more closely related to animals, and humans and fungi share a common ancestry in 30% of our DNA. To date approximately 700 species of mushroom have been identified as having therapeutic value and together they form some of the most potent medicines found in the natural world.
Potent natural medicines
Beyond their capacity to colonise, mushrooms have developed an innate hardiness over many millennia. This gives them a natural advantage in a range of habitats, from Chaga conk in Siberia—which can survive temperatures of -40C—to the high Tibetan plateaus which are home to a rare species of Cordyceps fungus. It also means they have evolved some unique defences against disease in a set of pharmacologically active compounds that can benefit humans.
- Beta glucans and related polysaccharides (complex sugars) which have been studied for their effects on immune function and the gut microbiome
- Triterpenes, a group of bioactive, anti-inflammatory chemicals related to steroids
- Proteins with antimicrobial and immune-modulating effects
- Enzymes including digestive and antioxidant enzymes
- A good source of vitamins B, D and minerals such as zinc, selenium and manganese
